The New Media Museum’s mission is to collect and preserve digital media artifacts and history, and then share that with the pubic through engaging exhibits in a variety of venues.
In order to serve that mission, the museum maintains a “living archive” of personal computing hardware, operating systems, utilities and productivity software as well as interesting applications in areas such as education, information services, hypermedia, virtual worlds and extended reality (XR).
The museum is especially focused on preserving functional demos of technologies that did not succeed in the “marketplace,” but insiders and historians tend to agree held unrealized potential.
Watch for more information about the museum to be posted here soon!
In the meantime, find out about the people who have contributed to the museum on the Acknowledgements page and the history of the museum on the museum’s prior incarnation, the NEW Computer Museum.
