MIT/Brown Vannevar Bush Symposium

The Trailblazers Collection includes a much cherished, authorized and complete copy of the original video tapes from the 1995 MIT/Brown Vannevar Bush Symposium are just one example of what the treasures that the collection contains. 1

There are also legal, digitized copies of most (but not all) of the tapes available online at the Doug Engelbart Institute.

Some of the material in this collection was also acquired during preparation for a presentation that Mary Hopper and Mark Bernstein gave at the MIT Communications Forum that featured clips from the MIT/Brown Vannevar Bush Symposium tapes. The transcript of that event is available online.

The New Media Museum holds extensive resources related to Douglas Engelbart and his work. Highlights of the collection include a large poster of an image from his “Mother of all demos” and a complete set of videotapes of the event Engelbart’s Unfinished Revolution (Doug Engelbart Institute).

Collection Notes
1 This event was one of the first to be broadcast over the MBone, which was accomplished in conjunction with MIT’s NMIS Project which was documented by Mary E. Hopper while serving as a Visiting Scientist at the Center for Educational Computing Initiatives at MIT.
